The TAB

features a powerful scene editor to control drawings, animations, audio tracks and camera in a user-friendly interface. Drawings and animations can be moved around, scaled, rotated in order to achieve complex movements with speed control, motion paths and cycles. They can also be linked with hierarchical links to create digital cutout animation. Movie clips can be imported for rotoscoping purposes. Many audio tracks can be imported, edited, mixed and scrubbed to check images with sound for an easy lip-sync. Camera and other scene elements can be controlled in a 3D dynamic viewer, as if placed on a stage.

The TAB is a 2D paperless animation software tailored to create original animation content for the Web and Broadcast. It is a completely computer-based cartoon animation system that eliminates the need to draw and scan hundreds of paper sketches, radically streamlining the cartoon production process.

The TAB has some superior features exploiting the power of vectors, without the restrictions they usually have, such as constant thickness lines, flat colors and control points complex management. Drawings can be animated by modeling vectors like they were made of gum, or they can be interpolated with the inbetweener. Animations can be checked in the making with a super-flexible onion-skin view. Palette colors are dynamically linked to drawings, and when a color is changed, all the areas linked to that colors will change, with no need to repaint them. And when you modify a drawing because you want to animate it, filled areas will remain filled since they will fit the strokes you’re modifying.

The TAB can export Macromedia Flash SWF, QuickTime, Microsoft Avi, 3GP or SCR in order to use the animations you create as rich contents for Web sites, broadcast-quality cartoon, animated e-cards, ready-to-be-played clips for mobile phones and wireless devices, etc.

Interface

The TAB interface is organized in rooms optimized for a particular task.

Each room is a different collection of panes which are laid out at specific positions on the screen, and has its own menus. You can move from room to room simply by clicking on the tabs on the far right of the menu bar.

Four rooms are distributed with the software: a drawing room, an animation room, a compositing room and a browser room.

More rooms can be added by downloading new layouts from the download area.

Drawing Room

The drawing room contains a large viewer pane where you have plenty of space to draw by using the set of tools and the style palette. The level strip allows you to control the sequence in case you're working on an animation.

Animation Room

The animation room allows you to manage different animation levels at the same time in the scene editor pane that lets you control the sequence of drawings. A style editor pane allows you to calibrate colors and styles for the scene.

Compositing Room

The compositing room is a large scene editor pane with a small viewer in the bottom right corner. This room allows you to control the whole scene composition, levels positions, columns and camera animation, etc.

Browser Room

The browser room contains the browser, the current scene and the export pane. Here you can load or save scenes, levels, images and sounds; or export scenes as QuickTime or Avi clips, or Macromedia Flash animation.
